Adding some wine to the cheese can help it maintain a smoother consistency. Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Dry Vermouth and Pinot Blanc are wines that work well in cheese fondue.

Over stirring the cheese can also make it stringy so resist the urge.

Have long skewers available as well as fondue forks. Some people will want to make a shish kabob of various items and dip them all at once. Make sure toothpicks are available as well.

An additional type of dip is to have hot oil in one pot. You can cook small pieces of meat in the oil. It’s important that the meat is cut into small pieces that will cook quickly. You also need to make sure the oil is hot enough to cook the meat. The metal forks are best for this.

For dessert you’ll want a fondue pot with melted chocolate. There’s a wide variety of food you can have available such as marshmallows, strawberries, chunks of pineapple or bananas, or apples. Dessert breads such as banana bread or walnut bread are also good dipped in the chocolate.

Have graham crackers ready for the chocolate covered marshmallows and your guests can make quick s’mores.
